In worship of the trees

As strange as it may seem I talk to trees, it's the pagan in me. I come to think of them as the Noblest of all Spirits that exist anywhere on planet Earth. I just don't love them I worship them, especially the Oak. FROM THE TINY ACORN SPRINGS THE MIGHTY OAK, She is mighty in Her Ways.

A child of the Goddess stands in splendor near my gate
A tall and beautiful grandmother oak tree
The tree began her life’s journey as an acorn buried deep in the
earth
Then a sharp winter freeze caused the acorn to crack
A tiny sprout emerged from the crack and forced her way through the
earth into the light of day
The ground around her body was warm in the early spring sunshine

Years passed and the sprout grew taller and stronger eventually
becoming a sapling
A Maiden sapling of vigorous life
Many tendrils of surrounding plants tried to cling to her rough bark
and drag her back to the earth
But the Maiden broke free and continued her journey upwards
Through many years, some with deluges of rain and others with the
dearth of drought
The Maiden Oak climbed higher and higher reaching into the sky
Her leaves were richly green and created wonderful shade for the many
creatures
Harbored in and under her spreading limbs
Birds of all kinds took delight in building their nests in the nooks of
her limbs
Toads and newts burrowed down into the mazes of her roots.
A mild winter came and all the Mother’s children rested and rose
again
In the spring with renewed vigor and life

The maiden oak became a mother this spring and bore her first acorns
Over the years scores of acorns were born and fell to the ground.
As always in nature, some of the acorns grew into sapling oaks and
others
Became food for squirrels and chipmunks
Many more years passed and the Mother Oak survived winds and tornadoes
and hurricanes
Always standing upright and never yielding to the storms
A few limbs broken over the years, but always her upright grace
continued to bless
The creatures who lived in her and on her and under her.

When we came to live near the Mother Oak, our new home was blessed by
Her stately grace and beauty.
For us, the Mother Oak has become Grandmother Oak and allows us to
share her life. She is the symbol of the Goddess Mother that we revere.
We thank her daily for her guardianship of our home and allowing us to
live near her.
Grandmother Oak has become the sheltering haven for our lost loved
ones.
We trust her to cover them with her limbs and nurture them in her
bosom.
We thank her by ensuring she will grow old in peace and tranquility.
It is our responsibility and privilege to ensure that no man will harm
her or those she protects.

The Mother Goddess has come full circle in the life of the oak, Maiden,
Mother and Crone.
We ask that she continue to bless us with her gift of life and peace.

Oh ye Oak so mighty and tall
Next to you I am oh so small.

Spirit so strong as one could feel
My love for thee I can not conceal.

Mother has sent us your spirit so blessed
To lift the spirits of those depressed.

Cleansing the soul with air so sweet
Without contention without conceit

Seasonal changes that regularly occur
Changes her manor and outward demure.

When autumn arrives with it’s cooling breeze
Her leaves of green then golden with ease.

From gold to brown her leaves then turn
Then falling Her branches without concern.

The cold of winter leaves Her bare.
Standing there naked without a care

The warmth of spring she buds to life
Showing no signs of Her winter strife.

From those buds come leaves of green.
Spreading her plumage is a beautiful scene

Her canopy so opulent for all can see
Reminds of me so much of a fleur-de-lis.

Protection you bring for the tired and weak
Your blessed shade is the comfort they seek.

Strength you have with branches so strong
Creature all know you’ll do them no wrong.

Home you’ve become for many a brood
Offering them seclusion without being rude.

Summer arrives with all in accord
Her acorns appear as a legume horde.

Leafheart, my Leafheart, Queen of the hill
You’ve come full circle as always and still.
