PostSubject: why o why war?   Wed Feb 27, 2013 11:46 am

so there have been many wars, historically over resources, that bit was easy to understand, no ability to communicate or trade left people desperate

then of course people asked why it is that some people continually are running out of resources, so along came joseph in his natty threads and his dream prophecy, so granaries became popular and small wars could be avoided, so societies became larger

but even after giving egypt the life saving concept of saving, josephs descendants were evicted from egypt, mostly due to jealousy, so then came moses with his commandments, and medium sized wars were avoided

then came world war

which i am afraid that if i tried to deconstruct the specific reasons for it, this entire forum would be deleted like it was last time i dared mention it, so you'll have to guess that part or i would not be able to continue talking...

though in general terms it was a violation of all 10 commandments

now we have 'terrorism' which i am also scared to talk about or somebody may delete the forum again

so instead of offending with truth, i'll use metaphor and a leading argument to get the readers and the hackers to realise for themselves

lets talk about syria
what is the given excuse for that one?

well war is diminishing somewhat, so 'we' seem to have learnt some things,
however
many people suffer from the illusion that religion was somehow to blame for war,
when the 10 commandments actually prevent war,
so
perhaps its the 2nd commandment that needs to be learnt most deeply still,
that is
there is a large difference between religion and idolatry
many people profess religion while not living it
and many have learnt some of the 10 commandments without acknowledging that the origin
of these ethics are indeed religious

however the commandments violated most in my immediate social milieu
would be the last 3 :

jealousy, lies, and theft

of course poverty is the result of infidelity as unwanted children from an unloved spouse
are tossed aside

you cannot really separate the 10 commandments from each other as violations
to one cause violations to another

for instance, the bible is lacking as regards astronomy
so people with guilt use this as a 'reason' to reject it
(so that they can temporarily avoid guilt)
then the karmic wave catches up to them
and they in turn 'blame religion'

its tough raising kids, yes?

well its much tougher trying to teach adults with ingrained child-like mentality
more so
when they have a veneer of success inherited

this is why i feel that my book
flight light and spin

was written to bridge the gap between modern cosmology and biblical ethics
but
i am trying to understand why i am having such trouble in getting it 'out there'

i must be violating a commandment in my own life somewhere
even if its not one of the 10,

perhaps i really do need a great woman to assist me
and its my own vanity that leads me to believe i can do it without her

"biblical ethics" had 13 centuries to eradicate war in Europe, and it utterly failed.

Instead, Christianity was used as an excuse by Charlemagne to slaughter whole villages of scandinavians.
Christianity was used as as excuse to wage the 6 (or 7) wars of aggression into the middle east, roughly referred to as The Crusades.
Christianity was used as the excuse for the 30 years war in Germany following the Protestant Reformation.
Even late 20th-century northern Ireland was incapable of making any kind of peace from the Bible.

Second -- what in the world is biblical ethics? "Do not work your oxen , nor your lady-servant on the Sabbath. " (>?)

Is that ethics? No. Ethics is David Hume's is-ought, and distinctions between normative language and descriptive language.

War comes from negative feelings of need and of want. Destroy and replant such feelings and thoughts and ideas with feelings of non-possessive love, and war has no place for us anymore.

Anyone who thinks that Christianity is a cause of war, must come and live in the third world for a few generations; and not hidden behind their mostly-white nationalist apartheid wall.

That western way of life is christian, and it is only christian countries that have it.

European pagans practiced all manner of executions, from war to genocide. Any person can pick up any flag and wage war under it.

The central cause of war is that people breed faster than the environment can sustain. A literate society knows better what can sustain it; than an illiterate one. Christianity is the most mature form of literacy as it heralds the great scientist instead of crucifying him.

The only alternative that the west has to offer, is dawkins and his "fcuk everybody as often as possible" ideology. This is the same practiced by heathens all over the world in many guises.

When i was a kid, my folks bought me a cage with two mice in it. Within no time there were 50 mice, and new litters every day. These are very cute white friendly mice normally. The mice were sent to the snake park before K-factor kicked in.

k-factor is simply that if you do not have enough space - then you kill for it. But living behind the great christian army that was victorious over the axis whoremongers - you lot have not begun to even see what violence is - let alone experienced it first hand. But you will soon.

Sodomy itself is a symptom of the beginnings of population density and stress as a result - where women reject the child for lack of love - it all got used on the father - now the man is the wetnurse to stop that infernal howling - now the boy child acquires unnatural desires - and the girl child overpowering desire - which exacerbates the situation. One cannot convince the sodomite that rape is wrong.

Fidelity and Celibacy are the only solutions. Such will power is something that only few can manage. The flags of the victors carry the message of survival - The crucifix trumps all even according to the most cynical survivor. Even neo-darwinists have to face the fact that christianity is the best survivor.

Truth is suffering.
Once you realize that,
the suffering ends.

Thanks for this, Bain.  This is actually very good and I agree pretty much with all of it.

I have to say, I am glad I logged back in here.  I've been beating around the Philosophy Now!  forum, and it is very depressing.

I feel refreshed here.

Thanks.
