| To native people the coyote is the trickster, the one who can force folks to learn even when they don't want to. By his tricks coyote forces his relations to grow. By being tricked and then learning necessary lessons, earth's children learn to trust in life and in the lessons that it brings. Being as stubborn as most of earth's children are, tricks are often necessary to growth. People being as comfortable as they are an don't wish to experience the pain that rapid growth sometimes brings. At such times the power of Shawnodese and the coyote is needed to help people grow and continue to learn thw lessons | |

| lightsun:
this is something i want you to know. when i was a small kid, my mother would tell me fairy tales or sing songs to me. all of which i quickly picked up and learned by heart.
but all of it would just be kid stuff later, subject to changing fashions in child rearing and education. the stories had no bearing on day-to-day life, and are lost to the next generations.
as an adult, i had to - luckily, happily? - discover an inner knowing in resonance with native teachings, i.e. a much deeper wisdom in the stories as they relate them.
yet, i am aware of a cultural distance which i must honor. that's why i feel our dialogue here is indeed a blessing, and i am so grateful to those making it possible at all.

| I'm glad we could connect. I believe native people & earth based religions have much to offer. I do not prescribe to any religion, but appreciate wisdom wherever it may come. | |

Very true. They will even be convinced, then sleep on it and start to ridicule the truth. The world does not want to be saved. - lightsun wrote:

At the same time they will do everything in their power to make you conform to THEIR reality, which, in the long run, is exactly what will wipe them out. One can really get frustrated at times. |
