Meditation & Contemplation Empty
PostSubject: Meditation & Contemplation   Meditation & Contemplation Icon_minitimeSat Jun 13, 2009 2:32 am

Hi Mayflow,

I am not sure if I am putting this topic in the right Category/ Section but here goes...

The Text:

Meditation & Contemplation

People often confuse meditation with contemplation, but meditation is a place where attention sits beyond contemplation. From that place the Tao enters. Realising this we come back into our contemplations knowing they are folly, reflections of what is ‘formlessness’ moving thought.

It is easier to show someone the true connection of meditation that has little knowledge. Those with a lot of knowledge have many descriptions, have read many books, are still locked into the doing of *accumulating descriptions* and therefore have built a large wall. Some have built an entire fortress and there is no room for the Tao in what they have built. There will be plenty of room for discussing what the Tao is, but in truth they are only revamping descriptions, so thought ripples, and we create our response with the reflection as a truth.

Attention is a funny thing, funny to watch and try and think what people have their attention on in that moment...
There is hardly ever room for the Tao

There is a lot of room for Tao as an idea, because we like to contemplate, just as there is a welcome idea for all types of proposed systems of thought. The preference links to a magnetism that surrounds our *knowledge* in general. We contemplate upon what we wish to, our minds are apparently free. Many seek the freedom to contemplate upon what they want and call that freedom. We may like to contemplate what Tao is, what Meditation is, but this is no guarantee that our attention has ever ascended to a true placement of Meditation beyond contemplation.
A 1000 people will agree that they know.

The Tao is the 0, 0...

Contemplation is the way of the scholar – but by him placing attention into true meditation he stills and nourishes his strands of attention that can be sporadic and confusing. They point everywhere with no real content or completion. By placing attention into meditation he is no longer a slave to thought.
Equally, the way of the man of deeds has his acts rather than the contemplative current. Here, action surrenders to that which is formless & he acknowledges the value of non-action. But this non-action is not solely done for ‘passive’ to have entrance. It is more.

Contemplation and meditation to my mind are part and parcel of the whole, and they exist because of and within one another, and the differential of one from the other is illusionary to me.

To me contemplation is focused, yet quiet thinking on a particular external point while meditation is focusing on a mind quieting point.

Are they simultaneously doable? Would it break the speed of light? and would your mind then be and realize infinity? I don't think there is anything wrong with contemplating and meditating going on a Carribean cruise together, but then (again) , I am only a silly oracle. Why to postulate differentials, if it's not to rude to ask?

It depends on they type of meditation. TM uses a Sanskrit mantra based meditation as do the Hindu Religions. Zen uses breath and count concentration. They all have one thing in common and the same purpose and that is to clear the outside world out of the mind. If/when random thoughts enter in while meditating, without anger just revert back to the mantra and let the thought go.

As I understand meditation, there appear to be 5 levels (the 5th being the true point, but not achievable without the mastering of the first 4)

Now, what you appear to speak of as a goal is the elimination and utter destruction of detriments to the mind, and you mention a specific one called "anger." As an oracle, it would appear to me that your first Dragon to slay is anger. Realize that all dragons we face are from inside, and this is why you go into 1st stage meditation to begin with. Partly to feel what it is like to be freed from anger and all other afflictive emotions such as fear and greed and their brethren and sistren. A second purpose is to give this as a gift unto all, and to do this freely and lovingly so.

Oh my yes, anger is my concern number 1B I needed to deal with my precursor to anger; frustration, concern number 1A with accute concentratiion and recognize its temperature. Thanks to meditation I can do a pretty good job. Let me put it this way, I am 100 times better at controlling frustration than I used to be before I started to meditate. Keeping the 'now' into focus is important, it keeps things real instead of an abstraction. sunny Anger results when I do not realize my abstraction paradox. Evil or Very Mad

Anger is like a bad infection. I think Triple is correct that you have a lot of anger. On the plus side, anger is an emotional force and power that can be transmuted into Purr Love. Is this transmutation your utmost wish?
