Hello this is lightsun. I am an intuitive feeler. I believe in peace, for myself,
if not the world. My zodiac is cancer. My chinese zodiac is a rabbit. In one of
the native american zodiacs, I am a woodpecker. I admire Buddha, Jesus,
Gandhi, Socrates, Martin Luther King Jr., and anyone who expounds peace,
environmental issues, children's rights, and animal rights. I believe to try to
the best of my abilities, not to think, speak, or act negatively. Obviously I am
human and can get triggered. I am for the prevention of crime, mental illness,
substance abuse, and other societal ills. At work and school, people would describe
me as positive, friendly, energetic, and as a caring intuitive feeling good listener. I
believe that there can be prevention and intervention in the school systems. Each
year every child could get a caring, compassionate and professional psychological
evaluation. This way we could get a handle on verbal, physical, and sexual abuse.
Children can be almost anything, if we but give them a chance. How can we be so short
sighted about preventing abuse. It goes on everywhere, now, and we are reactive not
proactive. I am very passionate about this issue.

Light - it's interesting that nurses here have to qualify
with a degree in Listening. Makes perfect sense to me.

Listening is a vastly under-rated art. Some may see it as a skill, or indeed
a study. When I'm free, may follow up the subject in Communication.

I would put listening skills, & reflection back to the speaker under. "emotional intelligence".
Also getting into the other person's phenomonolgical universe through empathy.
I think some are more adept at it then others. But basic listening skills & reflection should
be taught.

Hello Romana. You asked can they, and how would the listening skills & reflection
be taught? Well the first answer is yes, rudimentary and basic listening skills
can and should be taught. That is one of the problems of society. Everybody is
shouting and yelling at each other, spreading negative energy, chaos, and
confusion. In addition to all this being unproductive, inefficient, and ineffectual.
We live in different perceptual realities. Most people don't know this basic truth.
Therefore we think other people door should think like us. When other people
don't they are labeled evil, idiot, crazy, dreamer, cold,unfeeling, rude,
irresponsible, reckless, you get the idea. The list continues. This is why Myers
Briggs is fascinating. It shows how and why the NT, NF SP, SF types are so
even radically different. In learning basic listening and reflection, the premise
is simple. Person A gives a message to person B. Person B reflects back what
the other person said without projections or interjections of their own.
This sounds easy. But I have seen people get frustrated doing these exercises
in training seminars. Even,believe it or not, doctors trained in the field.
I believe we should be more self aware of our actions, how they affect other
people, and of our own thinking process.
